- Shoot in black & white – If you lack inspiration, the light conditions are poor or if the photos look dull, try switching the camera to black and white mode. It will make you focus on the subject and composition rather than looking for prominent colors. And if you shoot in raw you can always restore to color afterwards.
- A genuine smile – The older people gets, the less frequent they smile. Not because they are less satisfied, but because they rarely smiles in vain. And when they do smile, you can be sure that it is indeed of joy.
- The mind game – When you have been walking for hours and the snowstorm bites at your face the mind starts playing tricks with you. You see things you want to see stones seem to be moving because you want to spot other people and get rid of the feeling that you are completely alone out there. Several times both Jon and I were absolutely certain that we saw the mountain station, only to discover that it actually was a rock a few minutes later.
- Once we spotted a small hill, which seemed to be 10-15 meters high and some 20 meters ahead. But as we approached the hill it didnt come closer. Suddenly it occurred to us that the small hill was Herrklumpen, a 250 meters high mountain and it was several hundred meters away.
